Each day like most people in this world, I grab the same foundation, same Blush, same Highlight, same bronzer, same powder, same primer etc and I thought I might as well do a post on my every day makeup routine as its something that is pretty ingrained into my life and something I know super well. Its also something I have never shared with you guys so it seemed a pretty perfect post for a Sunday afternoon.
I am sooooooo bad at trying new products and end up just sticking to the products I know and love, using them until I’m even cutting the packaging to reach the last ounce of product inside.
For my face I simply use NYX photo loving primer, Loreal true match foundation in rose vanilla and my favourite drug store concealer the maybelline fit me concealer in their lightest shade.
On the cheeks my favorite products have to be highlight, as you can tell by most of the products in the pics below being shinmery, my anastasia starburst highlight compact has to be a favorite go to!
On my eyes i like to keep it simple for an everday look and use onlt around 2-3 shades from my sweet peach pallette and them all being the more matte subtle shades in the pallete. At the moment O have also been loving pencil eyeliner with more of a felt one over the top (when i have time).
Lastly lips,I am a huge lover of a nude lip and at the moment i am obsessed with honey love by mac, its my only mac lipstick and I just feel it adds somethig extra in an everyday look.
I came back from holiday in the early hours of Saturday morning and planed on spending most of the day lounging around but, being me, ended up popping out late in the afternoon to pick up a few bits for school as I’m going back on Tuesday. Ov corse I couldn’t just go shopping for a ruler and a new pen so ended up bringing a few more bits home than I expected…
I have just come back from holiday also I wasn’t really loaded with cash after buying myself and my friends some Moroccan lamps as I knew they would love them and didn’t mind spending about more on something they would actually really like.
From Superdrug I brought the Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow palate in Iconic 3. I think its meant to be a dupe of naked 3 mixed with some smokeyer colours but I don’t have the pallet so I’m not sure. I brought this mainly for Reading festival as it was only £4! And is much more safe to take than one of my other pallets for £4 even if its rubbish I won’t complain. Also from Superdrug picked up the Lash sensational mascara it was on buy one get one half so me and mum just split the bill and brought one each as mine had completely gone dry after holiday.
I also brought the NYX eye shadow base to help the colours last a touch longer and this was also around £3 ish I think.
The last makeup bit I got was the mac lip liner in subculture to go with my matte lipstick I got from mac in Corfu town for £9 as there was 25% off all mac there. I brought the lipstick In honeylove as velvet teddy (my fav) had sold out and swatched this one and fell in love but they didn’t have a sutible lip liner so I waited till I got back to england and could get a liner that would match both honey love and velvet teddy and was recomended this one.
And finally I popped into lush and brought i think its yoga bomb they don’t label them any more in my local lush so I’m not sure but I think its yoga bomb. Its 100% my favourite scented bath bomb as it smells just like the lush store just not quite so overpowering and turns your water bright orange.
Sometimes its nice to just keep things simple whether that be in beauty routines or just life in general and that is something I have tried to do with my skin care routine, just keep it simple in both amount of products and ingredients within those products. There can’t be anything good with bundling loads of chemicals on your face as much good as they say they do I would much rather use something with much more natural ingredients I’m not quite there yet but I’m slowly adding in a more natural alternative to my routine when I find a product that works super well for me.
This is nothing special Its a face wash. But with no harsh chemicals what so ever it works wonders on any skin type and really does help prevent and sooth any breakout one may have 😉 I just wash my face with this in the morning and before bed and find myself ready to go. I could easily stop at this step but I honestly enjoy my whole skin care routine too much!
Step 2: Next I use this Micellar water from La Roche-Posay. This and the Taaj Micellar water have to be my favourite they are so soothing and cooling and I know this is basically the same as step 1 but I find the Micellar molecules really break down and remove the makeup my original cleanse may have missed. I mainly use this at night.
Step 3: This is a new step in my skin care routine but its something and can now no longer live without. I have normal-oily skin generally all over and that is what a toner is for. I find it really tightens my pores and helps improve the look of my skin overall. This specific one found its way in as a freebee when I ordered my Zoeva brushes and was shocked when I realised it was the full size one!
Step 4: I use this Embryolisse moisturizer in the day time and a body shop one at night but I didn’t have that to hand. I have heard a lot of people say this is the moisturizer they use on celebrities before photo shoots and I can see why after applying your face feels so super smooth and a little sure does go along way! I highly recommend this as a day time moisturizer and I know some people don’t see the point of having two separate moisturizer but your skin goes through different environments all day yet at night remains calm and has no/ less damage occurring to it so you do need separate creams!
I never used to be a person for a coloured lip using only lip balm even if I was going out. For years I only owned 1 lipstick and brought it religiously each and every time I needed a new one. Topshops Nevada was the lipstick I loved for about 2 years never straying away from it as though I was bound in its grasp. But recently I have been wanting to venture out and saw that Boots had a 3 for 2 on L’oréal’s new exclusive lipsticks and thought I might give them ago. Like my beloved Nevada these are all nudeish lipsticks 4 of them are from the nude section and 2 from the delicate rose yes I brought 6 but I loved 4 of them so much I new I could get all 4 and that ment 2 free so why would I ever say no?
The 2 delicate rose lippies are much more matte than the other 4 so they are a tiny bit more drying on the lips. The two colour I brought were Eva and Helens. These lipsticks were designed by celebrities but only some of them I have actually heard of is that bad?
They are both gorgeous colours but Helens is so pale it barely shows on the swatch in fact I’m not even sure you can see it (swatches below) but it gives your lips a lovely shimmer and I super recommend them both. Considering they are from the same collection there is a massive difference in colour but they are both still pretty nude for the rose collection they aren’t ‘too pink’.
Theese 4 are from the nude section and are all a true nude they are not super pigmented but as a lipstick are 100% buildable although I would say the staying power on all 6 of these lipsticks isn’t fantastic but for £2.50 each it worked out who could complain? They look lovely once applied and are super smooth and feel so creamy when applying so I would recommend you go and try a few before they go! These 4 have more of a shimmer to them but only slight, the sort of shimmer you can only really see when your lips hit the light. My favourite of all of them has to be j lo’s nude as it is for my skin tone a perfect nude considering her self is actually of a darkercompletion to me.
This post is a bit late sorry I wrote it up weeks ago… As you can tell by almost every British beauty obsesse’s blog or youtube NYX is now available super easly and conveniently in the UK. I first found this out browsing online at Asos & Boots noticing a few new ‘foreign’ items floating around, the original beauty blender for one. Not long after I noticed that NYX had come to highstreet Uk shops. I can honestly say I was exctatic to see this and so impaitent to try out the products.
Un fortunately I am an un employed 17 year old (well I class my self un employed as I have the lest stable job ever) and can no way afford all that caught my eye, so I limited my self to stuff I actually needed (or had some way to justify why I brought it) I dont go out much and I’m not a fan of traipsing round shops and standing in queues for hours on end so hopped online to see what I fancied. The only issue I have with this is you cant test the item before you buy and you have to look for items they dont just jump out at you. But I suppose in the age of next day delivery and free returns who can complain?
I picked up 3 lip products and a face primer all of which I have tried and all of which I have fallen in love with.
I think I have probably tried every highstreet/ Drug store primer there is, from the weird to the wonderful. This NYX one for me is definitely in the wonderful category. I’ve never had a primer yet that I’ve gone to repurchase without having second thoughts but I have high hopes for this one even if it is early days. My makeup just seems to stay on my face and as simple as that sounds I mean it STAYS. No patchy foundation or concealer in sight. I still have to top up on a touch of power after maybe 5-6h but with no wear near as much as I have had to in the past! I 100% recomend.
Then the 3 Lip products that some how found there way into my basket wear; 2 Matte lipsticks and a Matte lip cream
I will add swatches but the images were perfectly terrible, whoops. And I really just want to get this post out :).
From L-R Matte lipstick in Butter a Lovely darker more coffee nude. Matte lip cream in London similar to Butter but a cream so much easier to apply but it does have less staying power, and finally another Matte lipstick in Natural which confuses me really as it isn’t a nude I would say more of a browned pink but lovely all the same.
The application of these 3 are beautiful the lip cream is super moisturising and the lipsticks have super staying power and compared to other drug store lippies are not drying in the slightest.
I am the sort of person who normally sticks to what they know and love. Personaly though, I am yet to find a set of brushes that work for me giving me that so called ‘flawless finish’ so its understandable that I have been hunting for a while. lets be honest here though in real life and without computer editing even the most beautiful of people have flaws (which are, to be fair, not necessarily a bad thing in any way and I personally am a massive campaigner for natural beauty rather than ‘boycotted beauty’ as I like to call it).
Whilst on my hunt around I kept clicking on and off the Zoeva brushes I had browsed a fair few brands but eventually the whole vegan and ‘eco friendly’ claims Zoeva make about there bamboo brushes made me want to try a few. I brought 4 brushes individualy and not in the set as I feelt like I was getting what I wanted rather than brushes I had no intrest in and wouldnt use. I, most likely, will still hunt and try other types and brands of brushes but there is something slightly satisfying in having a whole set of matching brushes. But to me I would rather have brushes that worked for me than ones that looked nice.
The brushes I picked up were the 142 concealer buffer, the 104 buffer brush, 105 hightlight brush and the 227 soft definer. I chose these 4 as I dont own any to similer so I had some way to justify my purchases (which I have to do a lot)
The 104, first on the left,is an absolutely beautiful beautiful brush. It is super soft but also very dence (Very fine brissles but alot of them) in a sort if stippling brush style wear the brushes head is flat and not taperd or domed in any way. I’ve used this brush 5/6 times and I couldnt believe how well it buffed in my foundation. Normally for this I would use my Beauty Blender but I found this did an equally good job as I have only used one product on this brush. So I found concealer wasnt combined with my foundation all over my face unlike I find with the beauty blender as I used to use 1 for my whole face meaning it was applying concealer in places that just didnt need it. With this I feel like I am in control of were the product goes and where it blends. I washed all the brushes before taking theese pictures so if anyone is interested in how I got them back to basicly new condition leave a comment below 🙂
One thing I love about theese brushes is the colour of the brissles. Them being a lighter colour means you can see when and where your brush needs cleaning.
The next brush along is the 227 soft definer, I havent used this brush yet as im still deciding what I want it for but it again is super soft I suspect I will probably use it for my eyes as its small fluffy and looks like it will blend beautifully and by using the other brushes this brush I have high expectations for!
The 105 highlight brush is AMAZING I often dont use brushes for the purpose they state they are for but for highlight and contour I find this brush works wonders. It fits beautifully on the apples of my cheeks the brissles are lovely and fine and dust my cheeks so so well with the perfect amount of product I cant get enough. Even with creme highlight it blends beautifully. The brissles on this brush are much longer than the 104 so it provides a much lighter coverage. Theese brushes being vegan for some reason put me of as I thought the brissles might be horrid and synthetic expecting a sort of plasticity feel but they are the complete opposite!
Finally I picked up the 142 concealer buffer. Ive never really used a brush for my concealer before I’m normally super lazy and just use my fingers or my Beauty Blender, which I am still in conflict over what I prefer and am slightly leaning more towards my Beauty Blender, but its early days for this brush and I have high hopes! It does blend really well and is a perfect buffer brush as it is super dense.
Sorry my posts are so long I always just have so much to say and my friend who checks over my posts to ensure they make sence due to my quite bad dyslexia (yes i’ve been tested) always has to delte about half the content with me. LOL. arrghdjdj.
When the postman came today I wasn’t expecting anything in particular maybe a letter from the bank or a junk leaflet from one of the many companies I am stupidly subscribed to. But when my dad walked into my room his hands behind his back and slowly held up a parcel with Debenhams plastered all over I new exactly what was inside. I literally tore the package from his hand as though it was the last piece of food in the world. I say this as my mouth was literally drooling in excitement. Inside was my Too Faced Sweet peach pallet. I had been after this pallet ever since it was announced at the beginning of 2016 I think? Seeing many other bloggers with this beauty in there possession made me more jealous than I have ever been before over anything ever (poor english there Rosie).
Mondays for me and everyone else in this world are a day of dull realisation that there is a real life out there with a job/ school to attend and many other un-exciting aspects of life but how can I feel this way even slightly when my beautiful pallet had just arrived. Ok I’m going to stop with the story of my life and talk to you about the pallet its self.
The name ‘Sweet Peach’ is completely right but not only for the classic scented eye shadow expectation that comes with any too faced pallet but the colours them selfs are the perfect peachy peachy ness and are super for the spring and summer. They are all the perfect beautiful colours. Each and every pallet has its runts but in this pallet even the runts are not a slight disappointment, as much as I may only find my self wearing them out of pure excitement or tightness (I.e. not wanting to waist any product) they are still no let down.
Unlike most people I suppose I didn’t want this pallet at all for the smell. For me it is a slight turn off. I mean its a nice smell but I can’t help but think how synthetic it is and chemical based I just think it can’t have any benefits other than a novelty product I suppose.
Again unlike most people I do not actually like all the too faced packaging I find it clumpy bulky and a hassle for storage as some of it is very odd in shape but this pallet I can say I do adore the packaging. I do have some definite favourites even just by looking at it, I was slightly disappointed that it came on a Monday though as I do myself a favour and avoid all makeup on a Monday but it doesn’t mean I can’t spend my day just admiring it.
The colours I personally have fallen in love with are Bellini a colour I haven’t really tried on my eyes before its a gorgeous nudey pink with a slim shimmer running though of gold, Luscious, again a more nudey shimmerd shadow it reminds me slightly of half baked from the original naked pallet and Caramelized. Although the others are beautiful just as much as them 3. I would probably combine the matte and shimmer colours with each other to create a perfect smokey eye which depending on the colour combinations you choose could be slight and subtle or beautiful and bold. Each of the shades have an orangey undertone to them, having blue eyes this is perfect for me, it really brings out my eyes as a deep but bright blue something I long for.
The ‘runts’ as I call them, for me, are Delectable a shadow with nothing special going for it really its a general purple with a slight gold shimmer., Bless her heart and olive green colour again with a gold shimmer running through and Tempting again a green but this one is much deeper with a sight shimmer. These colours I just feel unsure about. They are much to bold for me alone even smoked but I’m sure I can find a way to work them into a look some how. Ok now writing about them and admiring them for well over an hour the 3 colours i love and the 3 colours I’m not to sure on are all the ones with the goldish shimmer running through but I promise there are matte shades and one shade named candid peach which has much larger more of a glitter shimmer rather than a slight shimmer running through.
Really you just need to go and experience the beauty of this pallet for yourself!
